October 2026: It's Academic Awards Season
Celebrating the Success of our Top Students

I always make sure to attend the annual Academic Awards Night ceremonies for our local high schools. These are always exciting and uplifting events where some of our best Waterloo, Wellesley and Woolwich students receive well earned recognition for all their hard work over the last year. St. David's likes to group high achievers by subject matter whereas Resurrection still focuses on cumulative grade averages, exactly like it did when I went there as a student.
This year I had the opportunity to help confer our Academic Excellence awards at St. David's.
June 2026: Another Successful Graduation Season
for Thousands of our WCDSB Students

Every year I am proud to help represent our board at the high school convocations we hold in the Centre in the Square. It's always a pleasure to meet parents and talk to our ambitious and bright young graduating students.

Above Right: delivering greetings at the St. Benedict's ceremony for our Cambridge students.
Among my most cherished convocation experiences in my first term was writing and delivering the address for the 2023 PSW (Personal Support Worker) graduation at our St. Louis Adult Learning Centre. I have great respect for PSWs because they helped me care for my mother with dementia.
March 20, 2026: Announcement of Major New Expansion
for St. Boniface in Breslau

Our families in Woolwich also have a big reason to celebrate in 2026: St. Boniface in Breslau is receiving a major $13.1 million expansion providing 262 new student places!
January 23, 2026: Announcement of Major New Expansion
for St. David's High School in Waterloo

The new year started off strongly with a banger of an announcement for Catholic education in the City of Waterloo! A $17.8 million expansion to St. David's will be adding 18 classrooms and 414 student spaces.
On a cold January day I attended the announcement event with some of my fellow Trustees, Councillors and MPP Mike Harris. The official pictures can be found by clicking here
St. David's is already a world leader in robotics education and this upgrade to modern new classrooms should help Waterloo students excel even more.
