My Vlog

MY PARISH

I love being part of a Catholic parish community.

Attending weekly Mass matters.

Actually being Catholic does matter.

My current home parish is St. Mark's.

I enjoy volunteering here as a reader

and commentator.

I like St. Mark's because it is a young, vibrant and growing parish with many baptisms. It is one of the most ethnically diverse parishes in the Region with a particularly strong Filipino community.

Next door is St. Mark's Elementary School, part of the WCDSB system. This school is also currently undergoing an expansion adding 184 more students spaces.

St. Mark Roman Catholic Church

Before St. Mark's I was a longtime parishoner of St. Mary's Parish in downtown Kitchener. I was baptized here and over the years watched a dozen priests come and go as pastors.

Our main school board council chamber where we meet is right behind this church.

I volunteered nearly continuously here for over 30 years in a host of capacities including altar server, usher, reader and with the St. Vincent De Paul Sandwich Project, the predecessor of today's Tiny Home Takeout.

“We are so concerned with our children’s schooling [and worldly success]; if only we were equally zealous in bringing them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord… This, then, is our task: to educate both ourselves and our children in godliness”

— St. John Chrysostom
