WATERLOO Roots
I've lived in this area for my entire life.
Local Knowledge matters.
Local Representation matters.

Among my many hobbies, I enjoy running, hiking and animal/bird watching in the forests, wetlands and other natural areas that are part of our beautiful local trail system here in K-W. I enjoy meeting and talking to people of all ages learning about nature through first-hand experience and observation. When you are surrounded by creation you can't help but feel closer to God.

The iconic mascot of my old high school is the Phoenix bird, a mythological allusion to Christ. Both are an inspiration to us to rise even stronger and brighter after periods of adversity.

My Resurrection Graduation Medals
These were awarded at our Centre in the Square Convocation Ceremony in 2001, one month after 9/11 happened.
I was the only student chosen to receive the medals in Religion, English, Geography and History as well as the Bishop's Award and Scholarship.
The bottom photo shows the four plaques awarded to me for achieving academic excellence in each previous year at Resurrection.

I was Valedictorian here.
Unfortunately it was recently bulldozed to make room for more suburbia. All that remains is this lonely little playground and swing set. It used to be the site of such fierce playground battles.
“The world has changed. I see it in the water. I feel it in the Earth.
I smell it in the air.
Much that once was is lost,
For none now live
who remember it.”
— J.R.R. Tolkien

Fun Canadian flag Trivia! Do you know the name of the person who designed our maple leaf flag?
A: It's Dr. George F.G. Stanley. Both George and my grandfather Thomas Stanley lived in Calgary and went to university together. They were not directly related but used to get their mail mixed up. My grandfather taught George how to play hockey and be a goaltender so he could qualify for his Rhodes Scholarship.
They were very close friends.
