In the Classroom

My Commitment
to You

We have certainly achieved great things together for our students in Waterloo, Wellesley and Woolwich in my first three years on the board.

Expanding enrolment, major new investments in upgrading schools, a return to focusing on academic fundamentals and the beginnings of a faith revival are all reasons to be filled with optimism, even as we lean into the headwinds of trends which many fear are pushing the WCDSB (Waterloo Catholic District School Board) to become more and more indistinguishable every day from the secular Waterloo Region District School Board (WRDSB).

But the WCDSB gradually turning into just another generic, average or mediocre Ontario public school board is not an inevitable  fate.

Every day I sense and encounter evidence of your passion to preserve what makes the WCDSB not just special, but exceptional.

It is time for us once again to collaborate through the democratic process and work hard during this upcoming governance period of 2026-2030 to steer our children's education future in a direction that respects and safeguards our unique Catholic values and traditions while equipping our students with every academic tool of the trade they will need to compete, excel and hopefully dominate for Canada in our increasingly unstable world.

You know that I am unapologetically Catholic. You have seen the real, meaningful, concrete advocacy and actions (not just fluffy words) that I have taken at the board table during my term to try and preserve our Catholic faith.

I stand firm in my faith and I never back down because my lived experiences have shown me that our Catholic religion is a truly wonderful gift to be celebrated and spread to everyone who wants to learn about the true meaning of life. Our faith gives both WCDSB educators and our students a special drive and a special purpose. It fills all of us with a spirit and positive hope that is scarce elsewhere in the world today. We should embrace it more, not less.

I became a Trustee because I had a burning desire to help the next generation in the ways I was best equipped. In university, I rigorously studied economic and environmental policy across two degrees. In my next term in office, I want to continue to help pass this amazing gift of a high quality education forward to the next generation who will soon inherit our beautiful planet so they too can achieve maximum success in this world and the world to come.

I want to continue to help public education to realize its full potential and stop being second class compared to private schools. Children of all backgrounds and incomes deserve the same access to the best quality education delivered by Trustees, teachers and parents working together, hand in hand as dedicated partners in education.

Together, let's make sure our Catholic schools stay Catholic!

Yours most sincerely in Christ,

Conrad Stanley
